The Role: Maintenance Planner
Our Client is a local Council delivering essential services across infrastructure, community programs, utilities, housing, and corporate operations such as finance, HR, and IT.
They are now seeking a Maintenance Planner to join their team. A key position suited to someone with a trades or construction background who can confidently manage building and maintenance planning, work collaboratively in a small team, and bring practical, solution-focused thinking to the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and organise daily maintenance tasks across various trades, making sure the right people, tools, and materials are ready to get the job done on time.
- Coordinate a high volume of daily maintenance tasks/jobs, balancing priorities and ensuring smooth delivery that meets both client expectations and contract obligations.
- Liaise closely with the Job Allocator and field teams to confirm schedules, resource availability, and timing — making sure every job runs like clockwork.
- Review work scopes in detail, ensuring every trade requirement and material need is captured before work begins to avoid surprises on site.
- Interpret and apply the Department of Communities’ Schedule of Rates (SOR) when planning work to ensure all jobs meet contractual and cost guidelines.
- Adjust and update job plans when variations arise, ensuring changes are clearly documented, approved, and reflected in the work schedule without delay.
- Monitor and allocate materials precisely, ensuring everything required for the job is ordered, tracked, and on-hand to prevent hold-ups.
- Engage confidently with clients to clarify job details, resolve queries, and keep them informed of progress or any adjustments.
- Work hand-in-hand with supervisors, technicians, and the procurement team to ensure every job runs smoothly from planning to completion.
- Stay on top of job variations and amendments, making sure they are raised promptly, approved where needed, and seamlessly integrated into schedules.
- Keep a sharp eye on compliance, making sure all works planned and delivered align with contract standards and service expectations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in maintenance planning, ideally across building, construction and infrastructure.
- Trade background ideally across carpentry, electrical, plumbing. HVAC etc.
- Strong ability to read and interpret plans, contracts, and schedule of rates.
- Proficiency in using job management and planning systems (Simpro, SAP, pronto etc)
- Strong attention to detail, combined with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- WA Drivers licence.
