About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the talented culinary team at North Seafood and Grill in Northcote, VIC. As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in managing day-to-day kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our customers. This is a full-time role within a customer-focused hospitality environment.
What you'll be doing
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and staff supervision
Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality dishes that adhere to North SFG's standards and recipes
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new and innovative menu items that showcase your creativity and expertise
Monitor food stock levels and inventory, placing orders as needed to maintain efficient operations
Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, helping to develop their skills and expertise
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment in the kitchen
Assist with administrative tasks, such as inventory management and cost control
What we're looking for
Significant experience (3+ years) as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role within the hospitality environment
Formal culinary training and a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
Excellent time management and multitasking skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, kitchen environment
A creative flair and passion for crafting delicious, visually appealing dishes
Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and train kitchen staff
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well as part of a close-knit team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
