Nurse Educator – Perioperative Services

Direct Endoscopy is seeking an experienced and passionate Nurse Educator to join our team on a full-time basis. This pivotal role supports the professional growth and clinical excellence of our perioperative nursing team across all five Direct Endoscopy Day Hospitals.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will provide clinical education, foster a culture of lifelong learning, and help shape the future of perioperative nursing within a high-performing, patient-centered environment.

About the Role

The Nurse Educator will:

Deliver comprehensive orientation programs for new perioperative staff.

Design and implement tailored professional development and transition-to-practice programs.

Actively mentor, support and assess nursing staff in collaboration with Nurse Unit Managers.

Facilitate competency development and continuing education across scrub/scout, recovery and endoscopy areas.

Collaborate on roster allocation to ensure effective supervision of junior or new staff.

Drive education initiatives aligned with evidence-based practice and standards (GENCA, ACORN, NSQHS).

Maintain accurate records of all education activities and assessments.

Contribute to policy development, quality improvement, and clinical risk mitigation.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Criteria:

Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.

Minimum 5 years’ perioperative nursing experience (scrub/scout, recovery or endoscopy).

Previous experience in a clinical educator or clinical nurse specialist role.

Demonstrated experience in adult learning, small group teaching, and clinical supervision.

Strong understanding of infection prevention, PPE use, and clinical safety protocols.

Sound knowledge of relevant clinical standards and accreditation requirements.

Confident using digital platforms for education and documentation.

Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Valid Driver’s Licence and access to reliable transport (multi-site role).

Highly Desirable:

Previous experience in quality and risk management.

BLS instructor certification or similar qualifications.
