Maritime Constructions is a marine contractor, uniquely capable of self-performing the full spectrum of specialised engineering disciplines to deliver complex marine infrastructure projects from design and construction, through to commissioning. Projects include jetties, wharves, bulk loading facilities, dredging, reclamation, navigation aids, marinas, underwater pipelines in Australia and internationally.

Are you a dedicated and passionate Safety Advsior? Looking for a unique and challenging safety role in a new and diverse environment? Maritime Constructions is seeking a qualified and experienced site-based Safety Advisor to join the team and help us provide our crews with the very best HSEQ support.

The Role:

This is an opportunity to use your deep industry knowledge and leadership experience, investing in your team, to champion the safety space, promoting a strong safety culture and setting the bar for the wider organisation to follow.

You will be part of a supportive, close-knit team who thrive on the diverse and challenging nature of our industry. You will ideally have experience in the Marine Construction industry but if not, a general construction or heavy industry background will also be a great fit. Your attention to detail and commitment to health, safety, environment and quality, will be exemplary, and you will naturally hit the ground running, by quickly establishing positive stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

Support both short and long term HSEQ strategies

Work from our fixed sites and conduct regular visits to our local and regional project sites

Work to achieve outstanding HSEQ metrics and outcomes

Coordinate health and safety programs and operations on site to drive a strong safety culture

Conduct task observations and workplace inspections/audits for operational and project activities

Assist with external audits from applicable certification bodies

Seek opportunities to train and mentor team members regarding HSEQ processes

Conduct Verification of Competency training

Conduct investigations and close out incidents, near misses and hazards

Support injury management processes

Skills and Knowledge:

Comprehensive knowledge of safety legislation, compliance, and industry regulations

Experience undertaking ICAM investigations

Ability to apply common sense to your decision making responsibilities

A commitment to safety education and knowledge sharing

Intermediate-Advanced computer/software skills to deliver documentation to a high level, using Microsoft 365 suite

Proficient skills in all aspects of safety system and records management

Strong communication skills, and ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships

Internal and external audit experience

Model integrity, respect and enthusiasm

Display judgement and behaviour that is in line with Maritime Constructions company values

Qualifications:

Diploma Work Health & Safety

Relevant experience in construction (marine is preferred) or heavy industry

Current Class C Drivers Licence

HLTFA301B - Apply Basic First Aid

HLTFA201A - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

HLTCPR201A -Perform CPR

Incident Cause Analysis Measures (ICAM) or equivalent is essential

Travel Requirements:

There will be opportunities to travel regionally for coverage of our more remote sites, where you'll work in some of the most stunning coastal locations in South Australia. You'll be provided support by a highly motivated and results driven crrew and team, and will be working with some pretty incredible marine professionals.
