Willoughby City Council is looking for a Cook for our Childcare centre. In this role, you'll play a vital part in preparing nutritious, child-friendly meals that support the growth and wellbeing of children in our care.

About the role
As a Cook, you will:
Cater to individual dietary needs, including allergies, cultural and religious requirements, and developmental needs.
Prepare and serve meals; clean up before and after mealtimes.
Plan and manage menus in line with approved budgets.
Order food supplies from approved vendors and monitor food-related expenditure.
Ensure compliance with National Food Safety Standards, including safe food handling, preparation, and storage.
Keep temperature and hygiene records; report and return any unsafe food deliveries.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members.
Follow and help improve Centre policies and procedures.
What You’ll Bring
Relevant qualifications in commercial cookery and food safety
Current Food Handling and Food Supervisor Certificates
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Working with Children Check
Experience preparing nutritious meals for children aged 0–5
Knowledge of dietary needs, allergies, and cultural food requirements
Ability to plan menus and manage food orders within budget
Strong understanding of hygiene, food safety, and kitchen compliance
WHS and EEO awareness and commitment
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Strong time management and organisational abilities
Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and inclusive kitchen environment
