Job Overview:
Playhouse Learning Center located at North Manly is seeking a caring, energetic, and responsible Early Childhood Childcare Worker to join our team in providing high-quality care and supervision for children in our long day care programs. The successful candidate will assist in the implementation of educational and recreational activities, guide social development, and support the health, hygiene, and daily routines of children in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Regulations and National Quality Standards (NQS).
This role requires a genuine passion for working with young children, strong communication skills, and the ability to foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides care and supervision for children in our childcare centre.
Assist in the preparation of materials and equipment for children’s learning, creative, and recreational activities.
Prepare and conduct age-appropriate activities to support children's physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.
Entertain and engage children through storytelling, music, art, movement, games, and play-based learning experiences.
Support positive behaviour management, guide children's interactions, and promote respectful relationships.
Supervise children in recreational and outdoor activities, ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times.
Oversee the daily routines of children, including transitions, rest times, and mealtimes.
Ensure the hygiene, cleanliness, and health needs of children are consistently met in accordance with centre policies and relevant health standards.
Observe and report on the developmental progress, behaviours, and needs of children to senior educators or centre management.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and the community to support each child’s learning journey.
Adhere to child protection legislation and maintain the safety and welfare of children as the highest priority.
Requirements:
Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or working toward)
Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) – NSW
Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training (or willingness to obtain)
Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS)
Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and communicate effectively with children and adults
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude toward young children
Desirable:
2 years of Experience working in long day care, occasional care, or early learning centre settings
Knowledge or experience with inclusive practices and supporting children with diverse needs
Ability to contribute to program planning, observations, and documentation
Multilingual abilities or experience working in culturally diverse communities
Work Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor supervision across various activities
May include shift work and occasional evenings (e.g. family nights or staff meetings)
Physical activity, lifting children, and managing multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
