Firstly, this role is Canberra-based.

Secondly, it is hybrid / WFH - expected usually 2 days a week in the office (this can vary if (eg.) face-to-face meetings are required).

Thirdly, you do need to be an Australian Citizen to apply.

Fourthly, you need to have a current Baseline (or higher) security clearance.

Our client has a very large database (much of which is scanned images) which is frequently accessed by individual people and external organisations. They are looking to significantly enhance how the database can be accessed, to make it much more 'user friendly'. (It will not be a small task, as it will involve various databases / platforms, both internal, and some external which they link to.)

It will be a very interesting role, and is currently signed off to 30 June 2026, with an expectation that it will continue for a further 12 months (or more).

Due to this, we would expect anyone applying to have demonstrable experience with project managing a large database environment which has a very "public face" (ie, access) on the one hand, and a relatively complex back-end due to there being more than one instance of data - internal and external.

In addition, it would be logical for you to have experience with access of archived 'information' (ie, data and pictorial), digital service delivery, and be able to work in a matrix environment and be excellent at discussing issues and ideas with non-technical stakeholders.

One thing to be clear here: because there is going to be quite an enhancement on what the client currently has, you do need to be able to look at issues and ideas from a strategic perspective, not just tactical, put your thoughts and ideas together in a cohesive statement, and discuss/advise.

The technical environment is Agile, so you need PM experience here, and also they are Azure DevOps, so experience here would help also. The direct team is not large, so you will be often interacting with other team's members. Some politics and negotiations will be 'the order of the day' we feel.

Overall, we feel this will be a very interesting role as its core is different to 'the usual'. Could be fun!
