About the position:
This is a part-time fixed term role working up to 45.6 hours per fortnight to June 2026.
The Youth Development Officer will be responsible for delivering a range of youth focused programs and initiatives that foster positive engagement and strengthen community connection for young people across Greater Geraldton. This role will lead the planning and implementation of youth diversionary programs, during school holidays, after school and the daily operations of the Geraldton Youth Centre, ensuring it remains a safe, inclusive and vibrant space for young people and service providers. The role will also involve collaboration with stakeholders to advocate for youth specific services and contribute to local crime prevention strategies aimed at reducing antisocial behaviour in young people.
Key accountabilities:
· Deliver a diverse range of engaging youth focused programs that encourage positive behaviours and provide meaningful alternatives to antisocial behaviour.
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders through active participation in interagency meetings.
· Monitor program participation, activities delivered and track the progress against project goals by preparing reports for funding bodies and stakeholders.
· Lead the facilitation of the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan, ensuring alignment with and delivery of the objectives.

Position requirements:
The City is looking for a candidate who is motivated and community focused with strong organisational skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people. The ideal candidate will be confident in stakeholder engagement, program delivery and managing a safe, inclusive space for young people.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
The Youth Development Officer position has a salary starting from $89,127 per annum (pro rata) or $45.1046 per hour, offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
