Sports Development Officer (Trampoline Gymnastics)
Position is a full time 38-hour week.
About the Role:
Hunter Sports Centre is a dedicated athletics and gymnastics facility currently undergoing a $52m redevelopment and is one of the largest and most progressive gymnastics clubs in the Hunter Region.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sports Development Officer with a strong trampoline gymnastics’ skill set to lead, coordinate and grow trampoline gymnastics programs, including planning and implementation of pathways for recreation through to performance and competitive programs, and training and education of current and new staff.
The Sport Development Officer will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Trampoline Centre of Excellence including face-to-face coaching, staffing and general administration tasks.
This pivotal role will focus on athlete development, coach education, talent identification, partnership engagement and aligning with Gymnastics NSW high performance strategies

Provide community access to athletics and gymnastics programs and activities.
Contribute to the local economy through sports tourism.
Provide and maintain world class sporting and ancillary facilities.
Meet the needs of local residents through offering community focused activities, sport specific programs and services to support high performing athletes.
Purpose of the Role:
The Sports Development Officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the trampoline pathways from recreation participation through to international competition. This is primarily a face-to-face coaching role with supporting administration duties. The coaching load will include, school groups, recreational programs, talent identification, development programs, competition programs and international pathway development.
The primary outcome for this role is to ensure a safe environment for all participants and staff through high quality delivery of coaching, maintaining a safe environment and ensuring pathways are established to provide opportunities for all participants to engage in gymnastics at whatever level they desire.
Key Responsibilities:
Encourage, develop, and promote the study and practice of gymnastics as a fundamental movement activity for all ages and abilities.
Promote gymnastics as beneficial to physical, mental, and social well-being.
Provide ‘whole of life’ access to suitable gymnastics programs.
Provide a competitive gymnastics outlet for both male and female participants.
30hrs face to face coaching per week
Program Development & Delivery
Design and implement strategic plans for trampoline athlete development, from grassroots to elite levels.
Oversee daily operations of trampoline programs within the Centre of Excellence, ensuring a high-performance training environment.
Manage athlete progression pathways and talent identification initiatives.
Coach & Staff Development
Support and mentor trampoline coaches, facilitating continuous professional development.
Coordinate coaching workshops, accreditation courses, and technical development opportunities.
Promote best practice coaching aligned with national curriculum and athlete wellbeing standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with Gymnastics NSW, Gymnastics Australia, regional clubs, schools, and community groups to promote trampoline gymnastics.
Develop Talent identification program to identify suitable athletes for the TCOE High Performance Program
Align programs and services to GNSW TRP High Performance outcomes and the development, growth and delivery of TRP High Performance through the NSW TCOE.
Assisting GNSW in present, coach and assist in facilitating NSW TRP State Clinics, High Performance and Development squads and selection to the NSW Trampoline Gymnastics State Team for the Australian Championships
Act as the key point of contact for all trampoline development enquiries related to the Centre of Excellence.
Build strategic partnerships to support program growth, and facility utilisation.
Events and Competition
Collaborate with Business Operations Manager with regards to competition booking, clinics and talent development initiatives at the Centre.[RK1] [MP2]
Develop competition and training calendars.
Attend local, regional and national competitions as a coach with HSC athletes
Administration & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all child safety standards, risk management protocols, and relevant gymnastics regulations.
Collaborate with Business Operations Manager regarding program budgets, reporting requirements, and funding applications[RK3] [MP4] .
Oversee athlete records, coach rosters, and performance tracking systems
What We’re Looking For:
To be considered for this role you will need a background and demonstrated experience coordinating sporting activities and participants. You will have strong technical skills, a solid understanding of trampoline gymnastics and a commitment to safe progressive learning.
You will have the capacity to work independently and as a part of a team. You will have a passion for trampoline gymnastics, the ability to coordinate responsibilities simultaneously with initiative and a willingness to learn.
Able to plan and coach in line with the level of coaching accreditation.
Will be able to actively spot/shape athletes appropriately to the level of coaching accreditation.
Minimum of a FIG Coaching Accreditation recognised by Gymnastics Australia.
Show good organisational and leadership skills.
Be first aid trained.
Be an Australian citizen or appropriate rights to work in Australia
Current Driver's license.
Work 38 hours / week (including planning), 6 days / week, and competitions as required.
Current NSW Working with Children credentials or capacity to obtain WWCC.
Experience coaching a wide variety of ages and abilities.
Good personal time management, planning and execution of tasks.
