Willoughby City Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Development Enquiry Officer to support the delivery of high-quality planning and development services. This key role handles development application enquiries, lodgements, and day-to-day planning support. Working across the Planning and Customer Experience teams, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing customer service and driving continuous improvement.

About the role
As a Development Enquiry Officer, you will:
Respond to development enquiries via phone, email, and in person
Manage lodgement of development applications, certificates, and permits (including via the NSW Planning Portal)
Act as Duty Officer and provide day-to-day planning support
Assist customers with pre-lodgement advice and documentation
Review submitted applications and supporting documentation for completeness
Support development assessment and certification teams with administrative tasks
Maintain and update application checklists, forms, and guidelines
Monitor and implement updates to the NSW E-Planning Portal
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Town Planning, Building Surveyor or related discipline, or equivalent experience
Experience in development assessment, building regulations, and certification processes
Strong knowledge of planning legislation (e.g. EP&A Act, LG Act, BDC Act, SEPP Codes)
Proficiency using the NSW E-Planning Portal and other digital systems
Excellent customer service, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Strong time management and ability to meet daily deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively across teams
Commitment to WHS and EEO principles
Desirable: Local or State Government experience
