As an Accountant at Versatile Group, you will report directly to the Finance Manager and play a critical role in ensuring the seamless processing, reconciliation, and presentation of financial data. This position bridges the gap between the finance and project teams, providing high-quality support to business unit leaders with a view for progression within the team.

What you can expect from the role

General Accounting

Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries.

Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.

Assist with annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with project managers and stakeholders.

Analyse variances between budgeted and actual financial results and provide insights.

Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed assets.

Handle end-of-month journals and reconciliations.

Project Accounting

Perform revenue recognition in line with AASB 15.

Reconcile revenue during various project stages.

Manage retention reporting and trust accounts.

Prepare consolidated cashflow and project forecasts.

Review project costs, audits, and compliance.

Act as system administrator for cost management systems, managing workflows and security profiles.

Management & Financial Reporting

Generate monthly management accounts with analysis and commentary.

Prepare year-end reconciliations and financial reports for audits.

Manage leases in line with AASB 16.

Provide financial insights to meet legal obligations and improve cost centre performance.

Treasury

Assist with daily cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.

Improve forecasting processes by liaising with teams and leveraging technology.

Maintain relationships with banks and address financial queries promptly.

Compliance Activities

Prepare BAS, TPAR, income tax, and FBT workpapers.

Support regulatory submissions and liaise with government bodies.

Provide company secretarial support as needed.

Support & Systems

Support financial projects, administration, and accountancy tasks.

Drive innovation and improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Maintain confidentiality and build strong stakeholder relationships.
