POSITION SUMMARY

Space Machines Company Pty Ltd is seeking a Multimedia Designer to develop comprehensive visual communication solutions for our products and services. This role represents a critical and collaborative position, expanding the company’s existing complement of product design expertise to encompass multimedia content creation that effectively communicates complex space transportation concepts to diverse audiences including investors, clients, industry partners, and the public.

The successful candidate will combine technical design expertise with multimedia production capabilities to create compelling visual narratives about our innovative space transportation solutions. This position requires someone who can seamlessly integrate traditional design skills with cutting-edge multimedia production to support our technical teams, business development efforts, and marketing initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Visualization and Mission Communication

The Multimedia Designer will develop advanced technical visualizations through rendering and animation to communicate complex space transportation concepts to technical and mission stakeholders both internal and external. This includes creating detailed mission scenario animations showcasing orbital mechanics, spacecraft operations, and transportation logistics for technical review and stakeholder approval.

Key activities include:

Producing high-fidelity renderings of spacecraft systems, operational environments, and mission profiles for technical documentation and stakeholder presentations

Visualizing and communicating the company's technology roadmap to the wider team, investors, and strategic partners through comprehensive multimedia presentations

Developing interactive technical demonstrations that allow stakeholders to explore spacecraft capabilities, mission parameters, and operational scenarios

Business Development and Contract Support

Working closely with our Business Development team, the Multimedia Designer will create compelling visualizations and multimedia content for contract acquisition, grant applications, and competitive bidding processes. This critical function directly supports revenue generation and business growth through professional presentation of our technical capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

Producing proposal support materials including technical animations, capability demonstrations, and visual documentation for government contracts and commercial opportunities

Creating grant application multimedia content that effectively communicates technical innovation, project scope, and expected outcomes to funding bodies

Developing competitive bid presentations combining technical accuracy with compelling visual storytelling to differentiate SMC's capabilities in the marketplace

Supporting partnership development through creation of technical capability demonstrations and collaborative project visualizations

Product Design and Technical Integration

Building upon our established product design foundation, the role encompasses designing and developing products that are aesthetically pleasing, safe, reliable, and efficient for in-space transportation applications. The Multimedia Designer will collaborate with teams of engineers and scientists to develop visual representations of in-space transportation solutions and translate technical concepts into accessible communications.

Core functions include:

Working with cross-functional teams to develop visually appealing and functional conceptual designs and specifications for space transportation products

Utilizing expertise in industrial design, material selection, and manufacturing processes to create visually stunning, ergonomic, and functional product designs

Integrating multimedia elements with traditional engineering documentation to enhance technical communication

Using computer-aided design (CAD) software and multimedia tools to create integrated 2D and 3D models of transportation products and their components

Marketing and Digital Content Production

The Multimedia Designer will support comprehensive marketing initiatives through creation of marketing collateral, promotional animations, and multimedia content across multiple platforms and channels. This includes developing marketing animations and motion graphics that effectively communicate SMC's value proposition, technological advantages, and market positioning to target audiences.

Marketing responsibilities encompass:

Creating comprehensive marketing collateral including brochures, fact sheets, case studies, and promotional materials for industry events, trade shows, and client engagement

Designing and maintaining website visual content including hero animations, product showcases, interactive elements, and user experience enhancements

Producing professional video content including company overview videos, technical explainers, testimonials, and behind-the-scenes content for digital marketing campaigns

Developing social media content and digital assets optimized for various platforms to support brand awareness and thought leadership initiatives

Advanced Technical Production and Animation

The role requires conducting analysis and simulations of transportation product performance and creating visual presentations to communicate findings and optimization strategies. The Multimedia Designer will develop motion graphics and animated sequences that demonstrate product functionality, assembly processes, and operational scenarios while creating interactive experiences that allow stakeholders to explore and understand space transportation systems and their applications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Experience

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Multimedia Design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, or closely related field. We require a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in product design, multimedia design, or technical visualization roles. Experience in aerospace, advanced technology, or complex technical industries preferred. Candidates must present a portfolio showcasing both product design and multimedia communication capabilities.

Key Technical Skills Required

Software Proficiency:

High proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and InDesign for comprehensive multimedia production

Advanced rendering and animation software expertise including Blender and KeyShot 3D for high-quality product visualization and technical animation

Advanced CAD software proficiency for complex 2D and 3D modeling applications and technical documentation

Creative and Technical Capabilities:

Professional photography and video production capabilities with understanding of lighting principles, composition, and technical filming requirements

Graphic design and visual communication expertise with strong foundation in typography, color theory, and brand consistency

Traditional design skills including sketching, sketch rendering techniques, and ability to communicate concepts through hand-drawn illustrations

Physical prototyping capabilities including model making and metamaterial fabrication for tangible design validation and presentation

Professional Competencies and Additional Skills

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in industrial design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes, combined with excellent visual communication skills and the ability to simplify complex technical concepts. Experience working with technical teams

including engineers and scientists is essential, as is project management capabilities with ability to handle multiple concurrent deliverables.

Additional requirements include understanding of space industry applications, safety considerations, and technical constraints. The successful candidate must demonstrate proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in technical environments and have experience presenting to diverse audiences including technical experts, business stakeholders, and general audiences. Strong written and verbal communication skills for project coordination and client interaction are essential, along with the ability to translate technical requirements into compelling visual narratives.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

While not essential, preference will be given to candidates with experience in aerospace, space technology, or advanced transportation industries. Knowledge of space systems, orbital mechanics, or related technical fields would be advantageous. Familiarity with technical documentation standards and industry regulations, experience with emerging technologies such as virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR), and understanding of scientific communication and technical marketing principles would be highly valued.
