Position Summary
Health Hub Springfield is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Senior House Officer (SHO) or Emergency Registrar in Emergency Medicine to join our team. This role is ideal for a doctor with a strong interest in acute care and a passion for providing high-quality, patient-centered medical care. The SHO will manage a diverse caseload in a fast-paced environment, supported by experienced colleagues and a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting with urgent and emergency conditions.
Perform minor procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage, and plaster application.
Interpret diagnostic tests, including Radiology, blood tests, and ECGs.
Stabilise and manage critically ill patients until transfer to appropriate facilities if necessary.
Patient Management:
Ensure timely, clear, and compassionate communication with patients and their families.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in line with legal and organisational standards.
Participate in discharge planning and referrals to primary care or specialty services.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with nursing, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to deliver integrated patient care.
Liaise with ambulance services, general practitioners, and hospitals for continuity of care.
Education and Supervision:
Support the learning and development of junior medical staff and students.
Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to clinical teaching sessions.
Compliance:
Adhere to clinical guidelines, protocols, and Health Hub Springfield’s policies.
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and risk management strategies.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
Education:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognised in Australia.
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of post-graduate medical experience, including at least 6 months in emergency or acute care.
Skills:
Strong clinical and diagnostic acumen.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Competence in using electronic medical record systems.
