We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Lead to lead the delivery of two of our key defence programs—the Army Indigenous Development Program (AIDP) and the Regional Education Development Program (REDP)—based at Defence Establishment Berrimah in Darwin.
This role blends hands-on leadership of a multidisciplinary team with strategic business development, offering a rare opportunity to make a measurable impact while shaping the future of Indigenous education and employment pathways.
About the Role
Program Delivery (approx. 3 days/week):
Lead, manage, and support a team of mentors, trainers, tutors, and admin staff
Oversee daily operations of the AIDP and REDP to meet Army and ESI standards
Collaborate with Army staff and ESI leadership to ensure smooth program delivery
Support and mentor recruits and staff to foster personal and professional growth
Contribute directly to the delivery of training and mentoring components
Ensure compliance with VET and Defence training standards
Business Development (approx. 2 days/week):
Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with ESI’s mission
Build strategic partnerships with government, Defence, and Indigenous communities
Support the growth of ESI’s NT presence and capability offerings
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Proven leadership experience managing diverse teams
Qualifications and/or experience in project management, business development, VET, or education
TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
Cultural competence and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Current Driver’s Licence, WWCC, and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
No criminal history that would impact ability to pass a police check.
Desirable:
Business development or program growth experience
Defence sector or structured operational background
Budget management and reporting capabilities
Light Rigid Licence (or willingness to obtain)
