The Natural Areas Team is responsible for delivering on ground environmental works including bush regeneration and pest species management, developing strategy and policy to guide projects and programs, providing education and awareness to a diverse community and enhancing livability of the Campbelltown city.
About the role:
We are currently seeking an Environmental Protection Officer. In this role you will be responsible for developing, managing, delivering and reporting on pest species management and bush regeneration programs. The role also includes the planning of work programs, inspection and compliance activities under the Biosecurity Act 2015, reviewing of development applications and undertaking monitoring works for pest species. The role is suited to a friendly, hardworking and honest person who is passionate, focused and driven to improve the local environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in bushland management, bush regeneration or similar.
Extensive understanding of the local environment and environmental related issues.
Experience in preparation of reports, policies, contracts, budgets, tenders and grant applications.
Knowledge and experience in the application of relevant legislation including the Biosecurity Act 2015.
Knowledge of and experience in natural resource management specifically pest species management and bush regeneration in an urban environment.
Well-developed conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation skills.
