Position overview

The VBA has commenced a significant reform program, with a focus on becoming a Trusted Regulator (the ‘Trusted Regulator Program'). This program is central to achieving significant change across the VBA's core functions and the processes, practices and systems that are used.

The Senior Advisor to the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) provides strategic and operational support to the CTO in implementing transformation initiatives across the VBA. This role involves collaborating with various teams in the VBA, analysing data, overseeing progress and ensuring the successful execution of transformation projects.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in an advisory role within a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the building sector in Victoria including an understanding of the reform agenda.
  • Extensive experience providing oversight of transformation projects, including delivered on time and within budget.
  • An individual who thinks at the big picture level; developing a vision for the future and can translates strategic direction into day-to-day activities.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Commerce, Public Administration, Law or a related discipline.

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is the primary regulator of Victoria's building and plumbing industries, ensuring compliance with relevant laws that protect the Victorian community and promote confidence in the built environment. The VBA manages practitioner registration, monitors industry standards, and enforces compliance through inspections, investigations, and audits. It also supports industry professionals by providing guidance, education, and resources to uphold safety, durability, and sustainability in building and plumbing work.
