About the role

The Science Teachers' Association of Western Australia is seeking an Operations Manager to join their team. This is a full-time role based in Willetton, WA. In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organisation, ensuring the smooth running of all administrative and logistical functions, including the development and management of teacher conferences, student activities and publications.

What you'll be doing

Managing the operational aspects of the organisation, including finance, HR, IT, facilities, events and publications management

Developing and implementing operational policies, procedures, and systems to enhance the organisation's operations

Coordinating and overseeing the work of administrative and support staff

Providing strategic input and recommendations to the Board on operational matters

Ensuring compliance with relevant not-for-profit laws and regulations

Collaborating with team members to deliver high-quality resources, services and support to members

Developing and managing student activities and teacher professional learning events including conferences

What we're looking for

Minimum 3-5 years experience in operations management, preferably within the education or not-for-profit sector

Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively

Demonstrated leadership skills, including capacity to lead a team, delegate responsibilities and achieve outcomes on time, on budget and of a high quality

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with and to cultivate positive and productive working relationships with diverse stakeholders

Financial management skills including interpreting and analysing financial reports.

Experience managing annual budgets, financial reporting, (and NFP compliance requirements - desirable)

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and an ability to quickly learn new software and digital systems

A problem-solving mindset and the ability to think strategically

Event management experience, including the planning, budgeting and delivery of events

Publication knowledge or experience in the production of print and or digital resources

Relevant university level qualifications with a background in a STEM education-related field preferred

Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Education, or STEM-related field

To have (or be able to obtain) a National Police Clearance, a WA Working with Children Check and a WA Drivers Licence.
