About the role
This position is responsible for supporting the delivery of entertainment, activations, and public event experiences in the City of Parramatta. As part of the Events and Festivals Team, the Activation Officer assists in curating and delivering high-quality events and programs that enhance the city's vibrancy, engage the community, and contribute to the City's positive reputation. The role involves practical delivery, stakeholder coordination, and logistical support for public events and activations across the Parramatta CBD.
You will:
- Assist in the delivery of events, activations and activities across our streets and public domain including the weekly Farmers Markets.
- Coordinate with third parties on approvals and access to infrastructure (e.g. power, water)
- Manage activation and event bookings and process approvals
- Support project administration, tenders, quotations, procurement, and budget tracking
- Liaise with internal teams (marketing, events, public domain) for program coordination
- Provide excellent customer service and represent Council during activations
- Oversee on-site infrastructure and ensure safety and quality during delivery
About You
The successful candidate should have previous experience in events, activations, or public-facing roles in cultural or community settings, ideally with at least 18 months in an Events Assistant or similar position. Experience coordinating logistics, dealing with the public, and supporting event operations is essential.
You will also bring:
Experience
- Minimum 18 months' experience in events, public activations, community programs or related roles
- Hands-on knowledge of event delivery, stakeholder engagement, and activation logistics
Qualification
- Tertiary qualifications in Event Management or a related field are desirable but not essential
- Current valid Driver's Licence
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage bookings, engage diverse stakeholders, and resolve onsite issues
- Understanding of event planning processes, public safety, and cultural awareness
- Strong organisational and forward-planning skills
What's on offer
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $80,284 to $88,414 plus 11.5% superannuation.
