The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Employee Safety, Wellbeing and Inclusion Division (ESWI Division) is committed to the Department's vision to create safe, healthy, respectful and inclusive working environments for Department employees to thrive and succeed.
The Return to Work and Recovery Team commenced in early 2023, and aims to provide person centred, dedicated support to injured workers with workers' compensation claims, specifically targeting Principal claims, escalated and complex claims, and claims by staff from small schools.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available to support the Department of Education's Return to Work and Recovery Team as a Worker Compensation Payroll Advisor (VPS 4), in the Employee Safety, Wellbeing and Inclusion Division (ESWI Division).
This role supports the return to work coordinators with the coordination of payroll processing including:
- processing of current weekly earnings, medical certificates and return to work plans
- supporting business managers and human resources with workers compensation payroll advice
- building skills, knowledge, and understanding of workers compensation payroll obligations
The role requires:
- strong people and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate on initiatives to improve results
- excellent verbal and written communication and case management skills including organisational and records management
- knowledge and experience in workers compensation legislation, obligations and practices
- ability to drive team performance towards achieving set key performance indicators (KPIs).
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated experience in payroll and compensation-related transactions, with strong knowledge of workers compensation legislation, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and proficiency in payroll systems and records management tools.
