About Mawarnkarra Health Service (MHS)
Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider providing direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides the families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

The Position
The role of Safehouse Support Worker is to provide a strong support system and a safe environment for clients and their families whilst working under the supervision and direction of the Safehouse Team Leader.

Positions available are casual roles to be part of the casual team.
The Requirements
Undertake initial assessment and incoming referrals for potential and noneligible clients
Provide appropriate and timely assessments based on client needs and act according to the assessment
Provide link-up services to clients and provide support and assistance to clients through this process
Participate in case conferencing and undertake all responsibilities as per the care plan of clients
Work effectively, appropriately and empathetically with families
Provide assistance and support to families and friends of people who are in detox or rehabilitation
Assist clients to improve daily living skills such as budgeting, drug and alcohol awareness and confidence building skills
Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of record keeping
Personal Duress Alarm must be worn at all times whilst on shift
Demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with all Mawarnkarra policies and procedures.
Participate in maintaining a safe working environment
Ability to liaise and develop relationships with clients who are having family crisis or homeless situations.
Ability to provide support in highly stressful circumstances.
Ability to seek the advice and support of the Safe House Team Leader and other staff when necessary
Commitment to ongoing participation in education, professional development, evidence-based research and quality assurance
Other Requirements
Have the ability to work shift hours:
Day Shift – hours worked shall be 6.30am to 2.45pm;
Afternoon Shift – hours worked shall be 2.30pm to 10.45pm;
Night Shift – hours worked shall be 10.30pm to 6.45am
Have good verbal communication skills
Have genuine empathy for people who are in crisis
Have the ability to follow instruction and Safehouse operational procedures
Current Western Australian drivers license
COVID-19 vaccinated
Consent to undergo a WA Working With Children Check and a National Police Clearance
Current CPR certificate
Able to pass regular and random drug and alcohol testing
Previous experience and/or education in crisis care
Remuneration Benefits include:
Hourly rate of $46.69 (including 25% casual loading)
11.5% Superannuation
Housing and District allowances (subject to eligibility)

Casual shift rates paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award 2020
