Are you a passionate and experienced Teacher Aide ready for something truly different?
Do you love supporting young people in discovering who they are and what they stand for? Are you excited by the idea of working in a values-driven, innovative, and student-centred environment?
At Silkwood our purpose is clear — to support young people to be inspired, get connected, and feel empowered to make a positive difference in their lives and the world.
We’re on the lookout for a dedicated Teacher Aide who will help bring this purpose to life in our Middle School (Years 6–9), located in the beautiful surrounds of Mt Nathan.
This is not your typical school support role. You’ll be part of a passionate, collaborative team helping to foster curiosity, resilience, and personal growth in young people navigating their journey through the Exploring Phase – Adventuring with Life.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Supporting Student Growth:
Provide in-class support to students 1:1 or in small groups, particularly those with learning difficulties or diverse learning needs, working closely with class teachers (Advisors) within our advisory model.
Learning Enrichment & Interventions:
Support the delivery of school-based interventions and enrichment programs under advisor guidance. Experience with programs like MacqLit or maths intervention is desirable (but not essential).
Emotional Regulation & Chill Out Space Supervision:
Help students manage their emotional wellbeing and behaviour, including supervising our Chill Out Space during break times. This includes maintaining documentation requirements for compliance.
Building Strong Relationships:
Be a trusted adult and role model for middle years students. Your ability to build authentic connections and communicate clearly with students and team members will be key to your success.
Who You Are:
You genuinely care about the wellbeing, identity, and growth of young people.
You believe in supporting students to be inspired, connected, and empowered to make a positive difference.
You bring experience, initiative, and a willingness to learn in a dynamic, purposeful school environment.
You thrive in a collaborative team and enjoy being part of a whole-school mission.
You’re ready to take on a new and unique challenge that aligns with your passion for education.
If you’re ready to make a difference — not just in a job, but in the lives of young people — and want to be part of a school community that lives its purpose every day, we’d love to hear from you. Come adventure with us.
What We Offer You:
Silkwood is a challenging fast-paced environment
A work environment that is about growth and learning
A Vision, Mission and Graduate Aims that are lived and that you will be proud to be a part of delivering
Our SWISH Program (Silkwood Wellness in School and Home) that offers a variety of FREE health and wellbeing initiatives across the year for our team to access, including a dedicated website and more!
STAR Program (our reward and recognition program) “making moments that matter for those who matter”
Catered end of term shared team lunches and much more!
Silkwood School is leading the way with a transformative learning approach. If you want to empower young people to be inspired…get connected…and make a difference, then Silkwood School is the place for you.
