As a senior member of the Family Support Team, the Therapeutic Family Support Manager (TFSM) will provide a client centred, trauma informed approach to support women and children in crisis and transitional accommodation. The TFSM will provide specialist support and programs to children who are experiencing the effects of trauma and provide parenting advice and guidance to their mothers or carers. The TFSM will also provide leadership and advice to other members of the Family Support Team and collaborate with other services and supports to ensure positive outcomes are achieved for the families. As a member of the Management Team, the TFSM will support best practice service delivery and ensure that the organisation is meeting all contractual and legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role, and a minimum Diploma level qualification in a relevant discipline. They will also as a minumum have the following essential skills:
Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed practice
Strong knowledge of child development and family dynamics
Experience in program development and evaluation
Proven leadership capabilities
The work schedule for the role will be 4 days per week initially, which may increase to 5 days per week.
Hours of work will be either 9.00 am – 5.00 pm or 10.00 am – 6.00 pm depending on the timing of some programs and activities for families on different days.

Selection Criteria
Please submit your responses to each of the following criteria in your application (with your current CV/Resume) (maximum of 2 paragraphs per criteria):
1. Outline your experience providing trauma informed support and programs within a Professional Practice Framework to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of families in crisis who have been impacted by trauma.
2. Detail your experience in providing parenting guidance and practical strategies to mothers and / or carers directly, or via secondary consultations with other support workers.
3. Describe your understanding of the physical, cognitive, language and psychosocial stages of children’s development. Outline examples of when you have used milestone assessment tools to assess risks and apply these to the development of family support plans, including referrals to appropriate agencies or service providers.
4. Provide examples of programs you have developed that meet the needs of families in crisis, including those experiencing domestic and family violence, homelessness, parenting challenges, mental and physical health issues, offending or substance use issues and child safety concerns.
5. How would you provide organisational leadership to ensure HWS is working within the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the Tasmanian Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework in the provision of services, appropriate policy and professional development, and in the delivery of safe, family-focused programs and activities?
6. Give examples of your IT skills including knowledge and experience of working with client databases such as the Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP), Microsoft programs and cloud-based technologies, to aid with maintaining accurate and relevant digital records.
7. What are your strategies to be successful in both managing a service, function or program, and at the same time designing, facilitating or delivering and evaluating a calendar of programs and activities?
8. How would you rate your interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, data collection, preparation of Case Plans, writing objective case notes and presenting information to other staff or service providers? Give examples.
