Role Context:

The Lighthouse Project is the name of our pilot program to build better communication at Langford. We want to make sure participants, families, support workers and support networks are all on the same page. This is a new role at Langford and exists to support our Support Workers and interface between management, support staff, participants and stakeholders. This role may become permanent dependent on success of the Lighthouse Project pilot program.

Position Responsibilities:

Langford’s way of working puts the participant at the centre of their own supports and services, enabling our participants to make informed choices, exercise control and maximise their independence.

Reporting to the Executive Manager, Service Delivery you will be responsible for:

Senior Member of the Service Delivery Team

Provide oversight and management to further progress the quality of supports and relationships within Langford Service Delivery.

Provide mentorship, leadership and proactive support.

Upholding People’s Rights

Respect participant rights for choice and control.

Ensure that the SIL team is maintaining client record management systems and compliance frameworks that support the organisation’s compliance with and commitment to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Framework and the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework.

Lead the development and implementation of a framework that actively ensures the participant voice is central to service delivery.

Provide oversight and management to the SIL team to ensure that all people who access Langford’s SIL Programs have cultural safety and connection to their community built into their support plans.

Maintaining a Duty of Care

Provide support and supervision to the SIL Team to ensure risk assessments are completed to meet work health and safety requirements and quality and safeguarding requirements.

Ensure personal work practices do not place the participant at risk of harm, abuse, neglect or exploitation, or place yourself, your team members, or others at risk of harm.

Respond to reported injuries, incidents, and hazards in a timely and effective manner, ensure risk controls are implemented and monitored, and if required, follow the appropriate Reporting Frameworks within all relevant safeguarding frameworks.

Provide oversight and management to the SIL team to ensure Wellbeing Assessments are complete and safe support plans are in place for all participants, monitor practice implementation within these plans.

Provide oversight and management to the SIL team to ensure all mandatory training, Participant Worker Compliance, and safeguarding requirements are met within the SIL Programs.

Participate in a roster to provide support and direction for the On Call emergency response team outside of business hours.

Communicating Effectively

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with external stakeholders.

Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other Langford staff and external stakeholders to continually improve supports and services for participants.

Building Relationships and Trust

Ensure that all SIL programs at Langford work in partnership with the participant and important people in their life.

Ensure that all SIL programs at Langford listen and hear the participant’s needs and wants.

Prioritise the participant’s choice and those who have decision-making authority on behalf of the participant.

Working Collaboratively

Provide support and supervision to ensure support staff are aware of individual support needs of participants and that appropriately trained staff are available to support participants.

Provide leadership, coaching and performance counselling to the Service Delivery SIL team in a collaborative environment that promotes open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect.

Mentor ways of working and assist teams to understand and apply person-centred principles, therapeutic care, and active support as part of their work practices.

Supervise and guide the Support Managers to lead teams in the development and implementation of care and support plans, and the ongoing monitoring of supports, goals, and personal development.

Develop and maintain relationships with external providers and stakeholders to deliver supports that achieve Safety, Wellbeing, and Goal Setting.

Build and facilitate care teams that work collaboratively to ensure wellbeing, goal setting, and safety for participants.

Developing Teams

Work closely with the People and Culture Team for the development of human resources in this program area.

Supervise and guide the Team Development Lead for the management of safe rosters of support and development of direct support teams.

Development of Community Program

Provide leadership in the development of Langford’s Practice Model (Wellbeing Wheel) within the scope of the organisation’s Strategic Plan.

Participate in Sector Industry Groups and Peak Body consultation.

Positively promote the Langford SIL Program and framework.

Administration

Complete administrative, reporting and record-keeping requirements of the position.

What you will bring to the position:

To assist people to have choice and control of their lives, your success in this role will depend on:

Qualifications in Management and Leadership in the Community Sector or equivalent.

Substantial experience working with participants and support teams to provide client-centric services.

Strong knowledge and understanding of the NDIS and the Quality and Safeguarding framework.

Strong knowledge and understanding of the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework.

Knowledge and understanding of person-centred, therapeutic care and active support practices.

Experience leading, coaching and supervising teams including conflict resolution.

Strong communication, interpersonal skills and report writing skills.

The ability to build and maintain relationships and work in a collaborative way.

The ability to remain calm, problem solve and demonstrate good judgment and decision making in a range of complex situations.

Resilience, flexibility and adaptable to changing priorities.

Highly organised and systematic follow up.

Ability to lead and facilitate projects.

Ability to oversee big picture whilst maintaining highly individualised supports for participant.


Essential requirements: Provide and maintain:

Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with NDIS endorsement (if you do not have the NDIS endorsement before joining Langford you can apply for it as soon as you start work with us)

National Police Check (if less than six months old)

DIS Quality, Safety & You - Worker Orientation Module

Current unrestricted drivers’ license

A current Level 2 Senior First Aid Certificate

Delegated authority:

The Manager works under general direction from the EMSD and has a degree of delegated authority and autonomy to coordinate services, establish and monitor priorities and workflow to achieve service outcomes, and supervise team performance.

The manager is expected to exercise professional judgment and initiative and make sound decisions where work practices and direction are not clearly defined or established.

Direct reports:

The Support Managers in the SIL Program area report to the Manager, SIL.

Selection criteria:

Extensive experience developing and documenting processes and procedures for operations, programs, and
service delivery.

Extensive experience working within Support Programs for people with disabilities and mental illness.

Experience presenting information in a clear and logical sequence, demonstrating an understanding of the
needs of the end user.

Excellent organisational and scheduling skills to manage your own time and priorities and ensure efficient and effective management of teams.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive and
productive relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Capacity to lead the management of crisis and emergency situations/incidents.

Skills and experience to lead projects.

Strong administrative and computer skills with experience in the Microsoft Office suite of applications –Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.

Personal resilience that allows for robust and flexible thinking and ability to work with changing priorities.
