About Us

Greyhound Racing in Queensland is entering an exciting new phase with the merger of the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club and Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club, forming the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club (QGRC). QGRC has begun transitioning operations to The Q, a new state of the art greyhound racing facility in Purga, situated on the outskirts of Ipswich. The facility includes 3 separate race tracks, a community club complete with a 350 seat restaurant, sports bar, a gaming room with 60 machines and a kids club.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Sous Chef to join our team. The Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring the quality of food preparation and presentation. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cooking, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of high-quality dishes in line with our restaurant's cuisine and standards
  • Ensuring consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring the quality of food preparation and presentation
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and sanitation practices
  • Ensure that all food items are stored, handled, and prepared safely and hygienically
  • Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Assist in menu planning and development
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Chef or Cook in a reputable hospitality establishment
  • Formal culinary qualification or training
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and presentation
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
