Your new role
This is an exciting time in Sacred Heart Mission’s (SHM) history, as we are now working within our bold new strategic plan, Strategy 2030: Serving more people and more communities. As part of this plan, SHM is strengthening its voice and influence to help shape fairer, more inclusive communities.
We are now seeking a Head of Communications, Marketing & Advocacy for the period 25th August 2025 to 24th August 2026 to ensure our brand remains strong, our advocacy strategies stay on course, and our public profile continues to grow.

Your day-to-day
You’ll lead a passionate team and play a key role in telling SHM’s story and amplifying the voices of those we support. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a multi-disciplinary team across marketing, communications, and advocacy.
- Managing the implementation of strategies that build SHM’s brand, support advocacy objectives, and strengthen internal and external communications.
- Contributing to organisation-wide initiatives that enhance our impact, voice, and commitment to embedding lived experience.
- Managing proactive and reactive media responses, including statements, events, and public commentary.
- Working collaboratively across the Engagement & Development, Fundraising, and Services teams to deliver thoughtful, values-aligned campaigns and content.
We're looking for someone
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Marketing, Communications, Public Relations etc.)
- Strong experience in brand, media, and advocacy communications (ideally in the community, government or not-for-profit sector).
- A track record of delivering high-impact campaigns and media strategies.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with a demonstrated ability in maintaining and supporting high-performing teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- Ability to embed lived experience, participant voice and SHM values into communication design and practice.

- A full-time role, with flexible working arrangements available (including working from home days) contract expected to end 24th August 2026.
- Salary range of $135-140K + superannuation (dependent on experience & qualifications).
