Purpose

The Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for implementing our marketing and communications strategies, working collaboratively with members of the school community and external partners and stakeholders. This role involves creating content, managing digital platforms, supporting the school events and activities, and ensuring that all communication materials align with the organization's goals and brand voice.

Accountabilities

To model Camberwell High School core values in dealing with the wider community, families, students and staff.

To abide by the Schools Code of Conduct which expect and require staff and visitors to ensure the protection of all students.

To fully support the school’s Child Safe Policy for the prevention of student abuse by identifying risks early, taking all allegations and concerns seriously, reporting to appropriate staff who have specific responsibilities regarding Child Safety to remove and reduce risks to all students at Camberwell High School.

Ensure quality, consistency and accuracy of support documentation and tasks.

Be readily approachable by parents, students, staff, and the wider community.

To ensure adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety guidelines specific to the work area.

Role Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

Brand champion and custodian of the recently developed visual ID, adhering to Brand Guidelines (February 2024). This includes all branded items such as email signatures, certificates, staff badges, marketing collateral.

Implement and embed the school’s internal and external communications strategy, collaborating with school Leadership to align with the school’s goals and objectives.

Implement and maintain the school’s social media presence, including creating content, community monitoring, best practice approaches and understanding of the social media landscape.

Develop innovative and exciting direct email marketing strategies and activities that drive enquiry and directly correlate with student enrolment growth and enhance the brand and reputation of the school.

Maintain the recently redeveloped school website, ensuring information and multimedia content is relevant and up to date, incorporating design and changes as required.

Coordinate, design, and distribute the school newsletter, ensuring Department of Education messaging is incorporated as necessary.

Manage events including school tours, Grade 4 Masterclasses, Open Days, including the promotion and marketing assets.

Prepare and produce the annual school magazine.

Administration

Develop, monitor, and manage the annual Marketing & Communication budget.

Effectively use Enquiry Tracker for direct marketing campaigns, monitor prospective student timeline, manage events and tours and for reporting purposes.

Report to school leadership on performance and effectiveness of Open Day, Masterclass series, direct marketing campaigns, school tours and any other promotional or school events.

Communicate and interact effectively with all stakeholders involved in marketing.

Coordinate the retention and structure of all reports, files and folders required for the role.

General

Actively seek and participate in professional development.

Participate in the Performance and Development process in the school.

Ensure security, confidentiality and workplace safety is maintained.

The range of duties may be expanded as directed by the Principal or Business Manager in accordance with the Dimensions of Work.

High satisfaction of all communication with the school by members of the community, prospective parents, current parents, staff and students

High quality, consistency, accuracy and timely completion of all tasks and documentation

Strong work ethics and character in promoting team cohesion

Effective and professional communication with key stakeholders

Key Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience in developing and executing communication actions plans (Education/Not for-Profit industry experience is a bonus!).

Demonstrated ability to use social media as a systematic and effective marketing tool.

Demonstrated experience in creating professional marketing content.

Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills, with excellent attention to detail and passion for delivering work to a high standard and the ability to write and target effective audiences.

Be self-driven and motivated with the ability to work both within a team and autonomously.

Be creative and collaborative.

Strong organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing and/or changing priorities.

Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively with members of the school community and work cooperatively with a range of people including teachers, education support staff, students and parents.

Qualification & Experience

Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, or similar discipline

Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation

Relevant experience commensurate with the position

Desirable

Experience in Education marketing or the not-for-profit sector
