Position: Assistant Director (On-the-Floor Leadership Role)

Are you a passionate and experienced early childhood professional ready to take the next step in your leadership journey?

Little Scribblers Kindergarten is seeking an enthusiastic and capable Assistant Director to join our vibrant team. This role is hands-on and centre-based, supporting the Centre Director while mentoring educators to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and care.

As our Assistant Director, you will play a key leadership role, working directly with educators in their rooms, promoting excellence in programming, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. You’ll act as a trusted second-in-charge, stepping in for the Director when required and championing the Little Scribblers values each day.

Key Responsibilities

Mentor and support educators in their daily practice, ensuring alignment with the EYLF and NQS

Assist in implementing and reviewing the service’s Quality Improvement Plan

Foster a positive team culture built on collaboration, respect, and professional growth

Oversee compliance with child protection, WHS, and service policies

Build meaningful relationships with families, children, and the local community

Lead by example on the floor, engaging with children, guiding educators, and upholding a safe and inclusive learning environment

Support the Centre Director with day-to-day operations, staffing, family engagement, and reporting requirements

What We’re Looking For

Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ACECQA approved)

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership or senior educator role

Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF), Child Safe Standards, and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

Demonstrated ability to lead, guide and inspire a team

Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training, and Working With Children Check

Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
