About Ngaanyatjarra Council Group

We are a multi-functional non-government organisation. Our purpose is to make a significant contribution and impact to the Ngaanyatjarra Lands to ensure the reliable delivery of services including housing, power, water and community engagement and development. Additionally, we provide health services to the community through Ngaanyatjarra Health Service.

The Ngaanyatjarra Council Group represents the interests of around 2000 Ngaanyatjarra, Pintupi and Pitjantjatjara people, living in 12 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia.

About the Position

The accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, analyzing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. The accountant will work closely with other departments to support the overall financial operations of the company.

Purpose of Position

This position is an important contributor to the Ngaanyatjarra Services Accounting team. The Accounting team is committed to providing efficient, professional, and client-focussed bookkeeping support to the whole of the Ngaanyatjarra group. We are committed to transparency, accountability, and making a positive impact for the Ngaanyatjarra communities. The accountant takes responsibility for several accounting and administrative tasks so that this goal can be met.

The Accountant for Remote Community and Store Ledgers will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient financial management. This position requires a detail-oriented and organised individual with a strong accounting background and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. The accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, conducting ledger reconciliations, providing financial insights, and supervising bookkeepers to support our mission.

Essential Criteria:

CA or CPA Qualifications

3 plus years' experience in accountant role

Expertise in ledger reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and integrity

Expertise in preparation and lodgement of BAS and PAYGIs

Demonstrated expertise in the preparation and monitoring of annual project budgets

Experience with provide guidance and training to bookkeepers

Expertise in financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement

Expertise in financial documents and records for annual audits.

Expertise in compliance with all registry and statutory requirements, financial regulations, and donor requirements

Desirable:

Ability to adapt to different accounting software programs

Experience working within an Indigenous Organisation is desirable

Experience with not-for-profit sector

Professional membership to CA/CPA
