Botany Family and Children's Centre (BFCC) is a Child Safe Organisation, supporting children, young people, and families since 1979. We offer a wide range of programs inclusive of counselling, casework, case management, advocacy, referrals, and targeted earlier intervention programs.
Our family support services are tailored to the diverse and evolving needs of individuals, children and families, we provide strengths-based care aligned with each client's goals and unique circumstances.
BFCC is seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker who is passionate about supporting families as they navigate a range of daily and complex life challenges. This role provides targeted family support, improves family functioning, fosters resilience, safety and well-being.
This is a fixed term part time employment opportunity until June 2027 with conditions and salary at Level 5 of the SCHADS Award.
Support meaningful change through:
· Empowering families through strengths-based, client-centred, and outcomes-focused approaches
· Coordinating referrals and connecting clients with external supports as needed
· Collaborating with team members to promote culturally respectful parenting and family wellbeing
· Deliver holistic case management to support vulnerable clients and foster positive outcomes
· Identifying client strengths, setting program goals, and monitoring progress
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience as a Family Support Worker/Social Worker/Counsellor within the community services, child, or family sectors. You possess strong empathy and emotional intelligence, with the ability to exercise sound judgment to uphold the rights and well-being of individuals, children and families.
· Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, or equivalent.
· Proven experience in delivering individual, child, youth, and family therapy to enhance relationships and promote self-determination.
· Sound knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice.
· Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive client intake and needs assessments.
· Understanding of child protection legislation and related issues.
· Experience in developing, facilitating, and promoting group work programs with internal teams and external stakeholders.
· Proven ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with referral networks and agencies.
· Commitment to maintaining accurate records and up-to-date client information in relevant databases.
· Flexibility to work autonomously, under supervision, and collaboratively within a team to achieve organisational goals.
· Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
· Current WWCC & National Police Check essential.
