About the role
This is a specialised support role working closely with children who have experienced extensive trauma. You will provide high-level supervision and implement trauma-informed, positive parenting strategies in a residential or in-home setting. The role involves supporting emotional regulation, role modelling appropriate play, managing behaviours, and ensuring safety and stability at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing consistent, trauma-informed care and supervision in line with the child’s individual support and safety plans.
- Responding appropriately to mental health crises and observed signs of child abuse, following mandatory reporting requirements.
- Writing detailed, professional reports for court purposes, ensuring clear documentation of behaviours, incidents, and progress.
- Active shifts from 10.00pm to 6.00am or 11.00pm to 7.00am.
- Collaborating with care teams and adhering strictly to safety and behaviour support plans.
This is a meaningful and high-impact role suited to someone who is calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and committed to the wellbeing and development of vulnerable children.
About you
- You have professional experience supporting children with trauma, complex behaviours, or mental health challenges in residential or similar care environments..
- You are confident in following structured behaviour support and safety plans, with a strong understanding of child protection and crisis response.
- You are a strong communicator with excellent written skills, capable of completing detailed reports for legal and court-related purposes.
- Must hold a current driver’s license, reliable vehicle, valid NDIS Clearance and Working with Children Check.
- A minimum of Cert III/IV in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
