Qualified Mechanic – Southbank VIC

We are a privately owned, small-to-medium car dealership located in Southbank. We're seeking a hands-on, problem-solving mechanic to join our growing team and take ownership of in-house vehicle repairs and diagnostics.

Requirements

Must have own tools

Certificate III in Automotive (Light Vehicle) required

Full Australian driver’s licence

Clean driving record

Proven right to work in Australia (PR or Citizen – AU/NZ)

Experience across multiple makes and models highly desirable

Strong communication skills – must be confident liaising with external contractors

Ability to work independently and take initiative

Team player – willing to assist with general yard duties when needed

About the Role

This is a single-mechanic position with backup support from external contractors. You’ll be responsible for:

Inspecting vehicles for RWC items using an in-house checklist

Road testing and diagnosing faults

Sourcing and fitting parts (including second-hand where viable)

Pricing and ordering parts as needed

Completing small to medium repair jobs to prepare vehicles for sale

Liaising with our network of specialists for larger repairs

We outsource major work and RWC certifications but aim to build a flexible, smart internal system. There’s opportunity to grow with the business – more hoists and potential retail/wholesale work are in the pipeline for the right person.
