Are you ready to engineer a cleaner, brighter future for Western Australia's most remote communities?
Horizon Power is on the lookout for a dynamic Project Engineer to join our Remote Communities team. From solar application triage to site commissioning, you'll be at the heart of delivering innovative, sustainable energy solutions across 117 remote communities.
Location: Bentley (preferred) or Regional WA - Karratha, Broome, Kununurra, Carnarvon, Esperance, or Port Hedland. Housing & location allowances applicable if based in regions.
This is a permanent full-time position.
What You'll Do:
As a Project Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the end-to-end delivery of renewable energy projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Engineering Design & Technical Oversight:
Lead the design and specification of renewable energy systems, including generation, distribution, and metering infrastructure tailored for remote communities - Project Lifecycle Support:
Support all phases of project delivery-from concept development and tender evaluations to factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and final commissioning - Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal teams, Aboriginal communities, contractors, and external engineers to ensure solutions are culturally appropriate, technically sound, and community-focused - Documentation & Governance:
Prepare technical reports, scopes of work, and internal documentation such as board papers and business cases - Fieldwork & Site Visits:
Travel to remote locations across WA (5-10 trips per year) for inspections, testing, and commissioning. You'll gain hands-on experience and see the real-world impact of your work
What You Bring:
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with renewable systems and power distribution
- CEC accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong understanding of power generation and distribution systems
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
