Project Manager - Remote Communities

  • Work on energy projects that make a difference for First Nations communities
  • Join a purpose driven team seeking to improve energy supply in remote communities
  • Can be based in our Bentley office or one of our regional locations if that's where you call home already

Why You'll Love This Role
Join the team working closely with some of Western Australia's most remote communities. A supportive and solutions focused team, we are modernising energy in our remote communities, providing opportunities for cleaner and more resilient energy supply, and working with our communities to improve their experience. Whether you're in our Bentley hub or based in Kununurra, Broome, Port Hedland, Karratha, Carnarvon or Esperance, you'll deliver essential infrastructure and build lasting partnerships with First Nations communities.

Regional Depot Highlights

  • Kununurra: Ord River cruises & Lake Argyle views
  • Broome: Cable Beach sunsets & pearling heritage
  • Port Hedland: Iron-ore port tours & red-dune adventures
  • Karratha: Gateway to Karijini gorges & Dampier islands
  • Carnarvon: Gascoyne horticulture & Ningaloo snorkeling
  • Esperance: White-sand beaches & wildflower season

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Project Leadership: Own feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and hand-over on small scale power generation, renewables and network upgrade projects
  • Contractor & Team Management: Manage and mentor multi-discipline contractor teams through all phases. Establish on-site frameworks, foster skills development, drive accountability and ensure scope and quality standards are met
  • Safety & Compliance Oversight: Apply intermediate expertise in the Electricity Network Safety Management System (ENSMS) under national regulations. Implement zero-harm practices, conduct audits and maintain full compliance
  • Status Reporting & Risk Mitigation: Produce regular, concise updates on milestones, deliverables, dependencies and risks. Proactively identify issues and coordinate mitigation actions to keep projects on track
  • Multi-Service Coordination: Orchestrate overlapping contractor services-civil, electrical, mechanical-to deliver seamless on-site works in remote and challenging environments
  • Procurement, Tendering & Contracts: Lead strategic procurement activities, manage tender processes, negotiate contracts and establish supplier panels that deliver long-term value
  • First Nations & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Traditional Owners and local stakeholders to respect heritage, meet environmental requirements and foster positive community outcomes

Who You Are

  • Solutions focused, collaborative and love working as part of a team
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline
  • Ideally have exposure to the PlanView System or similar Project Management applications
  • Significant experience in Utilities and Renewable Energy Space
  • Sound knowledge of energy systems planning principles and financial analysis evaluation principles
  • Extensive experience delivering energy-systems projects (generation, renewables, transmission/distribution)
  • Intermediate ENSMS knowledge under Electricity Network Safety Regulations
  • Proficient in navigating heritage and environmental approval frameworks
  • An effective communicator who partners respectfully with First Nations communities
