About Our Client:

About the Role
WorkPac are seeking a Project Lead to join the Research, Development and Studies division at Rio Tinto to lead and deliver innovative mining and technology projects. As a Project Lead, you will act as the primary Rio Tinto representative across all project phases, from planning to execution. You’ll work closely with stakeholders, manage budgets and schedules, and oversee safe site activities to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring alignment with R&D governance requirements
Represent RTIO on assigned projects and act as the key point of contact
Engage stakeholders, facilitate approvals, and manage communication across teams
Manage project budgets, forecasts, financial reporting, variations, and cash flow
Plan and lead safe execution of onsite works, ensuring HSE and procurement compliance
Conduct and support risk assessments; identify and implement effective controls
Coordinate site readiness, liaise with contractors and operations, and manage delays
Maintain accurate schedules and ensure timely preparation of project documentation
Skills and Experience Required
Strong project management experience in operational mining
Demonstrated success managing multiple projects concurrently
Proven leadership in safe execution of onsite works
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Ability to work independently with self-motivation
Formal project management qualifications (e.g. PMP, Prince2) preferred
Experience in technology deployment/testing is desirable
Strong IT proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office
Valid WA C class licence
