The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The Branch drives major projects and initiatives that shape the future of claims and payments within the Agency. The Branch also manages the transition to digital, real time payments and ensures systems that are built are user centric and aligned with broader organisational goals.

The EL1 Assistant Director Finance role is a specialist role with a high degree of contact with stakeholders.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Providing technical accounting advice and briefing to Agency branches involved in payments transformation projects, by navigating the Australian Accounting Standards and applicable government financial reporting rules and frameworks.
- Partnering with other teams both within and external to the section to provide technical and general accounting and finance advice.
- Contributing to project design, governance arrangements and operational integration.
- Ensuring project deliverables and milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Reporting on project outputs to stakeholders and overseeing regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports.
- Preparing and reviewing written material of financial and business nature including business cases, plans, reports and executive briefs and corporate documentation.
- Undertaking budget management, monitoring expenditure, and overseeing procurement and contract management activities.
- Identifying, assessing, managing, escalating, and monitoring project risks, issues, and benefits, including developing treatment strategies.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
To be successful in the role, you will have relevant academic qualifications in Accounting and Finance. The ideal candidate must possess relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications); together with extensive direct finance experience performing and delivering complex financial and governance outcomes. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in SAP and have Project/System Management experience.

While this role is ideally performed from VIC - Richmond, VIC - Geelong, NSW - Surry Hills, NSW - Parramatta, SA - Adelaide, ACT - Deakin and QLD - Brisbane, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
