Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 1800 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

Purpose
The position of Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our organisation's vehicle fleet. Your primary purpose will be to manage and oversee all aspects of the fleet, including but not limited to vehicle maintenance, tracking and vehicle usage to optimise productivity and minimise downtime. By taking charge of scheduling, logistics, and vehicle upkeep, you will contribute to enhancing the overall performance and safety of operations.

Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of our logistics and fleet, including route planning, vehicle maintenance, and driver scheduling
Some travel to and from the lands is needed
Manage the plant and fleet prestart checks and associated data base, maintaining a robust system that provides data on prestart completion rates.
Scheduling & executing preventative maintenance tasks
Managing and approving follow up work identified by suppliers to a predetermined limit of authority and verifying close out
Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts usage and equipment inspections.
Resolve operational issues raised by operators promptly and efficiently.
Promote the execution of safe work practices and ensure compliance with work, health and safety statutory requirements and organisational policy
Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Ngaanyatjarra Group to develop fleet management processes effectively and efficiently
Seek direction and contribute to the allocation of vehicles in coordination with cyclical and urgent maintenance across the fleet ensuring optimal deployment of fleet assets
Communicate effectively and efficiently with staff and suppliers to ensure timely cyclical and urgent repair of fleet assets
Manage, maintain, and inspect fleet assets to ensure use and driver maintenance promotes WH&S as well as the longevity of the organisational assets and equipment. This will include travel to Ngaanyatjarra lands on a regular basis.
Develop, implement, and maintain vehicle inspection forms ensuring they are completed on a regular basis, actioned, and recorded accurately
Maintain accurate records enabling asset management, tracking, re-registration, and allocation
Develop and deliver staff induction training focusing on orientating new staff with organisational policies and safe vehicle usage
Undertake other tasks as required from time to time as directed
Key Accountabilities

Problem solves and continual process improvement
Essential
Have 3+ years’ experience in fleet management, logistics, mechanical or similar role
Demonstrate an understanding of asset management and an asset life cycle
Ability to travel to Ngaanyatjarra lands on a regular basis
Current open manual vehicle license
Reliability, dedication and highly organised
Clear and effective communicator
Patience and motivation to trouble shoot unplanned fleet issues
Strong computer literacy skills with ability to effectively use asset management software

The Ngaanyatjarra Council Group provides key services such as community development, health, housing, essential utilities, cultural land management, construction, and transport. These services cater to the specific needs of the Ngaanyatjarra people, promoting sustainable growth while preserving their cultural heritage.
