About the Division
The Teaching Excellence Division delivers the Australian-first Teaching Excellence Program, the Alumni Network and Teaching Innovation Fellowships, across the three sectors of government, Catholic and independent schools. These programs are designed and delivered by Victorian teachers for Victorian teachers, and the division includes Expert Teachers in Residence, Principals in Residence and VPS staff who have expertise in policy and program management working together to make these programs a success.
The Teaching Excellence Division works closely with other Academy divisions to enable seamless participant support and customer service, efficient learning space and technology management and coordinated statewide program delivery
About the Role
The Senior Policy and Project Officer leads and supports the inception, scoping, development, planning, delivery and governance of the Academy's Teaching Innovation Fellowships and the Academy Alumni network programs. The position also involves developing and providing advice to various stakeholders on a range of policy and program matters (research, issues, innovations and data) related to these programs.
The Senior Policy and Project Officer plays a strategic role by working collaboratively with Academy stakeholders and external suppliers, including school staff, to coordinate the activities required to successfully design and deliver the programs, including budgeting, contract management, quality control and monitoring program targets and risks.
To be successful in this role you will:
• Build team cohesion within the division, within the Academy and with its partners and providers to support effective program management and for managing complex issues.
• Demonstrate initiative through prioritising, problem solving and policy development.
• Project manage the programs by developing program timelines, ensuring the programs are delivered on time and within budget, contract managing providers/suppliers and monitoring and reporting program performance, logistics and risks.
• Communicate with stakeholders to support program needs, for instance with providers on content and delivery support
• Bring your expertise in supporting high quality professional learning and event management to support teachers across the state of Victoria
• Work with your team, the Academy and its partners to promote the work of teachers within Academy programs and deliver high quality outcomes.
Capabilities
You will need to be an effective communicator and collaborator, and be able to work within a cross-disciplinary team to effectively deliver Academy programs. You must have a strong ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships to successfully reach agreed deliverables, including working directly with teachers and school leaders from all sectors. You will be able to manage and lead projects, to navigate program risks and make recommendations or decisions that support successful delivery, as well as be flexible in adapting to changes and competing priorities. Your written skills, communication skills and project management expertise will support efficiency and timeliness.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Experience or qualifications in project and program management or learning design and delivery are desirable but not mandatory. Experience working within the education sector would also be valuable, but not mandatory.
