Join a fast-growing technology business tackling property theft in Australia.
Based in Brookvale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, PropertyVAULT is Australia’s only dedicated platform focused on stopping the resale of stolen goods and supporting police, insurers, and the public in recovering stolen property.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and confident Asset Recovery Support Officer to help manage and track stolen asset records, engage with external stakeholders (police, tow yards, councils), and support recoveries for our insurance partners.
This role blends administration, data handling, and investigative work—ideal for someone who thrives on follow-up tasks, enjoys problem-solving, and wants their work to make a real difference.
About the Role
As an Asset Recovery Support Officer at PropertyVAULT, you’ll help ensure stolen asset listings are accurate and recovery-ready. You will liaise with police, councils, tow yards, and other agencies to support investigations and assist in recovering stolen assets for our insurance partners and the public. The role combines data handling and investigative work in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. You will work closely with a passionate team, with flexibility available around start/finish times and part-time options for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise directly with police departments, tow yards, councils, and other stakeholders to verify recovery status, gather relevant case information, and ensure accurate updates for our insurance partners.
Persistently and professionally follow up with external contacts to confirm asset movements, clarify outcomes, and close unresolved matters.
Report findings clearly and efficiently to internal team leads to inform case decisions and drive recovery actions.
Upload and manage stolen asset records on the PropertyVAULT portal—ensuring entries are accurate, structured, and complete.
Assist in analysing stolen asset data to assess recoverability and identify matches with potentially recovered property.
Support PropertyVAULT’s insurance partners with data handling, onboarding, and basic troubleshooting or resolution tasks.
Skills & Competencies Required
Confident and professional phone manner, with the ability to engage with police, tow yards, councils, and other stakeholders. Must be comfortable asking questions, navigating diverse conversations, and obtaining clear, actionable information.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on assertive yet respectful engagement.
High attention to detail and accuracy when inputting or reviewing data across multiple systems.
Self-motivated and well-organised, capable of managing follow-ups and multiple concurrent enquiries without losing momentum.
Problem-solving mindset—curious, persistent, and outcome-driven.
Positive and collaborative attitude, with a team-first approach and initiative suited to a fast-paced, small-team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard office tools is expected; advanced Excel/database skills are a bonus.
Experience with CRM systems, case management tools, image search platforms, and online marketplaces (e.g. Facebook Marketplace) is desirable. Familiarity with workflow tools like Linear or Jira is a plus.
Qualifications & Experience
Secondary qualifications required, undergraduate or TAFE qualifications desirable but not essential.
Ideal for candidates with experience in high-volume enquiry environments, confident with phone-based communication and strong in follow-up tasks.
Background in insurance, investigations, or claims is highly regarded.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia and currently reside in Sydney. Proximity to Sydney’s Northern Beaches will be favourably regarded.
About PropertyVAULT
Property theft in Australia is a serious and growing problem, costing the community upwards of $2 billion each year—disrupting lives, diverting valuable police resources, and increasing the cost of insurance for everyone.
PropertyVAULT is Australia’s only dedicated national service focused on preventing the on-sale of stolen goods—the primary driver of profit-motivated theft—while supporting law enforcement in identifying and recovering stolen property and helping ensure recovered assets are returned to their rightful owners.
Founded and staffed by former police detectives and built on a sophisticated technology platform with over 1 million assets listed and more than 100,000 user views per month, PropertyVAULT helps owners get their property back, while helping insurers recover paid-out stolen assets and reduce claims fraud and leakage.
