Yarra Plenty Regional Library is seeking an experienced temporary full-time Branch Manager to manage a branch and team to deliver relevant and customised services and programs to the community at our Diamond Valley Library.

About the Role

We have an opportunity for a permanent full-time Branch Managers at Lalor Library. The Branch Manager is responsible for ensuring quality library services by leading and motivating their branch team and managing the day to day operations to develop informed, connected, inclusive communities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the trends and emerging issues of public libraries.

Responsibilities:

Service Delivery

· Provide leadership to ensure a high standard of customer service at the Branch

· Contribute to meeting KPIs outlined in the Regional Library Plan

· Ensure that the branch annual business plan is fulfilled

· Ensure application of Customer Service Guidelines

· Manage the resolution of complex issues relating to customers

· Ensure the development, delivery and evaluation of a range of core programs and services

Operations

· Manage the building to facilitate optimum use and to maintain staff and customer safety

· Ensure effective resource management in the Branch including managing relevant budgets

· Ensure the maintenance of the collection and IT facilities to a high standard

Staff

· Select, train and develop library staff

· Provide a work environment to enable staff to develop job competencies and achieve professional goals

· Assist staff to adapt to change and promote a positive attitude to change

Planning

· Develop an annual Branch Plan in accordance with the Library Plan

· Develop relationships with local community organisations and individuals to promote the use of the library

· Take responsibility for developing productive relationships with relevant Member Council departments

· Contribute to Branch Managers and EMT/Branch Managers forums through contribution to library policy development and overall library management.

About You

You are highly motivated and a proactive leader, with a strong interest in utilising and developing your management skills. Being a Branch Manager requires a flexible approach and the ability to lead, motivate and develop staff with strong persuasion and influencing skills. You demonstrate resilience in the face of pressure and are confident in supporting your team to manage challenging or antisocial behaviour when it arises. As part of YPRL's Leadership Team, Branch Managers deliver initiative, accountability and customer service every day, as they go above and beyond for our customers and colleagues.

Ivanhoe, VIC, Australia

Yarra Plenty Regional Library was founded in the mid 1960s, when the former City of Heidelberg agreed to provide library services to the former Shire of Eltham. Later the former Shire of Diamond Valley and the Shire of Whittlesea joined in the regional group.

In 1995, following changes in local government boundaries, the new municipalities of Banyule, Nillumbik and Whittlesea continued their support for the regional library service and Yarra Plenty was one of the first regions incorporated under Section 196 of the Victorian Local Government Act 1989.
