About the position
Reporting to the Coordinator Cultural Services, you will lead the development and delivery of engaging educational and interpretive programs that bring the City’s history, heritage and art collections to life for diverse audiences. From school groups to general visitors, your work will connect people to the City’s unique stories through innovative learning resources and public programs.
As an Operational Leader, you’ll supervise and support a small team of staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality service delivery aligned with community needs and City values. Your ability to communicate effectively and build strong stakeholder relationships including with local schools, community groups, government agencies, and City leaders will be key to your success.
This dynamic role involves both strategic planning and hands-on program delivery, including physical activity and occasional out-of-hours work to support events and exhibitions. Your contribution will shape how the City celebrates and preserves its cultural identity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and evaluate interpretive and curriculum-linked education programs.
- Develop supporting learning materials.
- Supervise staff and volunteers with effective task allocation, performance guidance and coaching.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure program relevance and community impact.
- Maintain accurate records, monitor budgets and ensure compliance with safety and governance standards.
- Drive business improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of innovation.
About you
You are a creative and passionate educator with a strong interest in history, heritage, arts and community engagement. You bring experience in developing educational programs and have a knack for transforming information into engaging, accessible experiences. You’re organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Your leadership style is supportive and collaborative, and you're driven by a shared sense of purpose. You’re comfortable working across teams, speaking to diverse audiences, and representing the City with professionalism and enthusiasm.
What You Will Bring:
A qualification in Education or a related discipline, or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering community-focused education, curriculum-linked or interpretive programs.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Intermediate computing and administration skills.
- Experience supervising and motivating staff or volunteers is highly regarded.
- A current First Aid Certificate, Working with Children Check, and C Class Driver’s License.
