Role Details

The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Approval and Review Officer to join on a full-time term basis.

The role is responsible for:

Assessing and recommending suitable individuals to become foster or other types of carers within the out-of-home care system.

Applying professional judgement and analysis to conduct comprehensive assessments of carer applicants.

Monitoring carer approval status and coordinating with out-of-home care agencies to support timely reviews and evaluations.

Collaborating with supervisors and service providers to maintain appropriate oversight and accountability.

To be successful:

You will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to develop and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders, communicating clearly on complex issues. You will be able to evaluate information from multiple sources, assess risk, and use your initiative to propose solutions to complicated matters.

Special Conditions

Essential Qualifications:

AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
