MechTest provides mechanical testing, metallurgical testing, chemical analysis, and failure investigation services to various engineering sectors.

MechTest is experiencing continued growth in Brisbane QLD and requires a full-time Mechanical Engineer at our Archerfield laboratory.

About the role:

Liaise with clients to plan and perform standard and bespoke load testing.

Technical report, documentation, and procedure writing.

Design and building of test fixtures.

Provide technical leadership / support to the mechanical testing laboratory.

Assist with failure investigations.

Preparing test items by sectioning, cutting, machining, and grinding, using CNCs, machinery, power tools and hand tools etc.

Hands-on mechanical testing activities in the workshop.

For applicants with electronics or instrumentation experience - use and develop data capture systems to track a range of measuring instruments.

R&D to develop novel mechanical / load test methods and equipment.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with a Degree course or a Diploma program.

Workshop experience with power/hand tools.

Technical aptitude, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to think outside the box.

Highly regarded:

Member of Engineers Australia, with a willingness to work toward RPEQ or CP Eng. status will be highly regarded.

Forklift License is an advantage but not essential.

Basic welding experience is an advantage but not essential.

Electronic / Instrumentation experience is an advantage but not essential.

Basic programming (e.g. VBA) experience is an advantage but not essential.
