Convergence Medical (www.convergenceortho.com) is a Brisbane-based medical robotics start-up that is developing the V01, which is the world’s first Arthroscopic surgical robot. We are seeking an experienced Office Manager & System Support to join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in supporting our Operations, Commercial and Engineering teams.
The Role
This is a unique opportunity for an early-career Mechanical Engineer to join a fast-growing startup developing cutting-edge robotic surgical systems. You’ll collaborate closely with senior engineers, surgeons, and cross-functional teams to support mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and design documentation for our V01 platform.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in the design and development of mechanical subassemblies and robotic components.
Support 3D modelling and production of technical drawings using SolidWorks.
Work with suppliers on prototype fabrication, design-for-manufacture (DFM), and documentation.
Contribute to mechanical testing, verification and validation activities in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and ongoing product iteration cycles.
Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, software, quality, and commercial teams.
Support document control, BOM management, DHF maintenance, and tracking of design inputs/outputs.
Conduct and interpret finite element analysis (FEA), including fatigue analysis for critical components.
(Preferred) Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to support thermal and flow performance design decisions.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
1–3 years of experience in a mechanical design or engineering role.
Proficient with SolidWorks.
Familiar with ANSYS - FEA and CFD
Experience with CFD tools is highly regarded, though not required.
Strong documentation and attention to detail, especially in regulated environments.
Eager to learn and adapt in a dynamic startup environment.
Passionate about medical devices, robotics, and solving complex technical challenges.
Strong communicator and collaborative team player.
Bonus Skills (Not Required, But Valued)
Hands-on prototyping and testing experience.
Exposure to medical device development or regulated product design.
Experience with CFD and thermal/fluid modelling tools.
