The Role

Naval Construction Branch (NCB) is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual for the role of APS6 Commonwealth Property Manager and become a valuable addition to the team. This position supports the implementation and delivery of continuous shipbuilding and is an integral part of the Logistics Directorate within NCB. The Logistics Directorate goals are to deliver the NCB capability efficiently and effectively, and to continuously improve strategies and processes.

You will be required to work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence’s mission and business objectives. You will also be required to engage with relevant stakeholders to identify expectations and concerns and develop a clear understanding of the issues and solutions to achieve outcomes.

Key responsibilities are (but not limited to):

  • Lead and conduct CoA compliance & assurance activities against all relevant Business Process Monitoring (BPM) controls
  • Lead LOGIS contract data management activities
  • Coordinate the supply, storage and redistribution efforts of waterfront stores
  • Lead logistics data validation & remediation activities in support of Naval Projects and Programs
  • Manage all Commonwealth owned equipment at the waterfront
  • Manage and support NCB codification and cataloguing efforts and NCB disposal activities
  • Maintain accountability and control of Commonwealth assets during transition phases
  • Coordinate Maritime Supply Chain (MSC) processes with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain standardised logistics functions and tools using appropriate learning methods.

About our Team

Naval Construction Branch (NCB) is accountable for the assurance of ship construction, set-to work and transit of vessels constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard and Henderson precinct. We also maintain a smaller presence in Port Macquarie, NSW.

NCB is furthering continuous naval shipbuilding and growing sovereign capability by overseeing the construction to ensure quality and standards are met, storing lessons learnt and developing standard shipbuilding procedures for construction. NCB will oversee the construction of many different Navy vessels including Offshore Patrol Vessels, Hunter Class Frigates, Young Endeavour, Evolved Cape Class and Pacific Patrol Boats.

Working at NCB will enable you to be at the grassroots of continuous naval shipbuilding, where you are part of a working shipyard, being able to see and contribute to the vessels delivered and used in service by Navy.

Our Ideal Candidate

The NCB team is looking for logistics professionals who bring a strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement. You will have:

  • Experience in ERP Inventory Management systems
  • Knowledge or experience in simple procurement processes
  • Completed the Material Logistics Intro and Practitioner courses
  • Experience with supply chain processes and Commonwealth property management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making, with well-developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills.
