The Robina Private Hospital Allied Health Team is currently seeking expressions of interest from experienced nursing staff interested in undertaking a dynamic role within the Older Persons Mental Health Team.
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate Registered Nurse who is able to work both collaboratively within a team and autonomously within the community. The role and hours are flexible with opportunity to work school hours available. Permanent Part-Time hours available for the right candidate.
The role:
The role will include undertaking visits as part of Hospital in the Home Service (HITH). HITH is a mental health home visit service provided as an alternative to hospital admission, or as part of the discharge plan from Hospital. The role provides psychoeducation, relapse prevention planning, skills training in management of symptoms and medication, brief therapeutic interventions, vocational support and community engagement. Mental Health Home visits are scheduled on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
The assessment component of this role is within our Memory Clinic Service. The Memory Clinic is for people experiencing memory loss, or who feel their ability to think clearly and problem solve has worsened. A comprehensive assessment process is completed by the memory clinic nurse with the patient and a family member. The assessment takes half a day with the assessor referring on to the necessary services. The successful applicant will have sound clinical assessment skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an understanding of working with older persons and their families.
Mandatory :
Current registration with Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Minimum two (2) years clinical experience within a similar role
Current Queensland Drivers Licence
Desirable:
Experience working with older person’s mental health
Experience and interest in working with a range of mental health presentations
Interest in facilitation of mental health groups
Required personal competencies:
Effective time management and co-ordination skills
Awareness and practice of legislation affecting nursing practice and health care
Strong focus on patient centred, evidence-based nursing care
Able to conduct a comprehensive and systematic nursing assessment
Demonstrated high standards of professional and ethical practice
Excellent collaboration and consultation skills with individuals, groups, significant others and a multidisciplinary health care team
Focus on service improvement and ongoing professional development, for delivery of excellent patient care and positive health outcomes
Promotes safety, security and personal integrity in the work place
Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative
Excellent communication skills
Sound technical skills with computers and related software
