SRJ Walker Wayland is the leading accounting firm on the northside of Brisbane. Across our Brendale office and our smaller office on the Sunshine Coast, our team of over 70 provides a range of services including business advisory, audit, outsourced CFO and finance team support, plus a range of advisory services.
Our CFO and Bookkeeping Division provides outsourced bookkeeping and finance support to over 50 clients, utilising a team locally and offshore. The team has experienced significant growth in recent years and as a result we seek an experienced accountant for a new Assistant Manager position, acting as a 2IC to our team’s Brisbane based manager.
Working in office is flexible for the right candidate, with a minimum work from home of 3 days per week, once you are settled into the role
Some of the duties include:
Conduct reviews of the work produced by team members to ensure their work is of a high standard
Host daily team meetings each morning to identify any issues or problems which may affect client workflows
Provide support to team members to ensure that their workload is manageable, they are appropriately trained and supported
Direct support and communication with clients
Identify any issues with workflow which will need to be escalated and communicated back to our clients
Help the manager to identify and manage any issues relating to HR or IT that impede the team’s ability to delivery work in a timely fashion
Ensure that the team is meeting both internal and external deadlines
Identify opportunities to improve our systems and processes
The successful applicant should have the following attributes:
Minimum Cert IV in bookkeeping or an accounting related degree
Experience working with onshore or offshore bookkeeping staff (desirable)
Managing workflow for a bookkeeping or accounts department
Experience in producing and reviewing business activity statements, payroll, bookkeeping and superannuation matters
Experience with Xero and a medium level of proficiency with Excel
The role is a fulltime role based in our Brendale office, reporting to the Manager on a day-to-day basis and ultimately to the Partner leading the team. The remuneration for the successful candidate will be based on experience and market. We are committed to regularly reviewing remuneration positions and we ensure that we match or exceed the market for our people. This role is a junior leadership position with potential for further advancement within the firm. We provide an extensive training program focused on technical and soft skills development so that our people can maintain their skills and advance within the business.
