About the Role

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced Leader Commercial to join a high-performing team within a local council-owned utility. This role will oversee commercial and financial risk management for a $300M+ infrastructure portfolio, ensuring optimal contract performance and strategic procurement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cost tracking and expenditure control across the portfolio and division
• Manage and assure performance of major infrastructure contracts (~$300M p.a.)
• Provide commercial analysis and recommendations to optimise resource use
• Oversee contract documentation and digital contract management systems
• Deliver contract and internal process assurance reviews
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks and capitalise on opportunities
• Lead and motivate a team aligned with organisational goals and values
• Drive continuous improvement across contract and division operations

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Project Management, Engineering, Legal or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• 6-10 years' experience in a senior commercial role, ideally within infrastructure or utilities
• Proven expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure contracts and financial analysis
• Strong understanding of contract KPIs, claims assessment, and cost control frameworks
• Experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) or similar delivery models
• Familiarity with asset-based work breakdown structures and digital contract systems
• Demonstrated leadership in planning and resource management
• Knowledge of utility sector trends and commercial best practices
