KJ is an innovative and award-winning Martu organisation committed to preserving Martu culture and strengthening Martu communities across the vast lands of Karlamilyi National Park and the Martu native title determination, spanning 15 million hectares over three desert bioregions. Guided by Martu cultural advisors KJ’s mission is to deliver meaningful, on-country programs that blend cultural, environmental, and educational goals.
We are looking for dedicated Ranger / Community Field Coordinators to work closely with Martu rangers leading on-country activities and supporting Martu-led initiatives to care for Country and pass on knowledge to future generations
What you’ll be doing
Collaborating with Martu rangers to plan, organise, and deliver on-country activities that align with Martu priorities and KJ’s strategic goals.
Leading day, overnight, and multi-day trips to significant cultural areas, supporting Martu aspirations for cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and knowledge transfer.
Building strong relationships with Martu, fostering their skills, confidence, and leadership abilities on Country.
Handling logistics for on-country work, including preparing and maintaining vehicles, camping equipment, and necessary technology.
Engaging with external partners to integrate traditional Martu knowledge with contemporary natural resource management practices.
Completing timely reporting, documentation, and photo submissions after trips, while collaborating with other KJ programs.

Physically capable of meeting the demands of a remote role, including loading/unloading gear, hiking, and enduring extreme weather. We want to make sure that you will be up for the demands of the job so you will be required to undergo a medical examination before employment.
