Forest Management Branch is primarily responsible for modelling the forest resource, developing the thinning schedule and facilitating thinning planning for native forests. Forest Management Branch has four main programs: Forest Assessment and Monitoring, Systems and Decision Support, Forest Operations Planning and Disturbance Approval System (DAS)
We are currently seeking Disease Assessment Coordinators to join our team.
This role:
Undertakes and supervises plant disease interpretation and detailed mapping projects according to the Branch works program.
Ensures the annual Phytophthora dieback interpretation target is achieved on time and in order of priority, through liaison with all clients. Co-ordinates priorities in conjunction with Works and Training Coordinator.
Undertakes and supervises the field survey and measurement of native vegetation and forest attributes to support the planning and management of forest ecosystems.
Undertakes and supervises analysis of interpretation and inventory data, and the production of summaries, reports and maps of surveys and field assessments.

Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability and extensive experience in Phytophthora dieback interpretation and diagnosis.
- Demonstrated ability and extensive experience in tree measurement and forest inventory management.
- Experience in Phytophthora dieback hygiene management within different forest and vegetation types.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams to a high standard and efficiency with good organisational skills and ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Well-developed word processing, GIS and database skills.
