Aspirante is working with a QLD Government department to assist in their search for a UX/UI Developer to join a high-impact digital services team delivering whole-of-government web solutions used by millions. You’ll own the front-end craft—building Squiz Matrix components, shaping a design-system library, and keeping a complex, multi-site estate fast, accessible and reliable.
What you’ll do

• Design & build reusable UI components, templates and pattern-library assets in Squiz Matrix.
• Maintain & enhance multiple public-facing websites, ensuring WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, performance and SEO best practice.
• Support publishers & stakeholders—triage requests, troubleshoot issues and provide guidance on web standards and content workflows.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement of processes, tools and the design system.
• Assist on priority projects & crisis comms when rapid, accurate updates are critical.

About you

• Proven front-end skills across HTML5, SCSS, JavaScript and modern tooling.
• Strong experience developing components in Squiz Matrix (essential).
• Working knowledge of government or enterprise design systems and accessibility standards.
• Confident juggling multiple mini-projects, deadlines and stakeholders in a decentralised environment.
• Collaborative mindset—comfortable sharing knowledge and lifting team culture.

Nice to have

• Exposure to other CMS platforms (e.g., Sitecore, AEM).
• Familiarity with web analytics, performance monitoring or SEO tools.
• Experience in large public-sector or regulated environments.
